London Sports Council appoints Bill Smith as Executive Director

The London Sports Council is pleased to announce that Bill Smith has accepted the position of Executive Director of the London Sports Council.

Born in London, Bill has lived and worked in this city his entire life. He attended Sir Adam Beck Collegiate where he participated in basketball, football and track and Fanshawe College where he played varsity basketball.

Locally, he has been involved with sports, specifically basketball both personally and professionally most of his life. He has been a basketball official for 25 years and sat on the London Board of Basketball Officials as an Executive member from 2008-2013. Bill has been a member of the Board of Directors of the London Sports Council since 1999, and Executive Board member of the London Sports Hall of Fame since 2004.

Bill has worked for the past 13 years in Sports Management as a Director of Sales, where he worked locally, nationally and internationally to help facilitate sport events in cities across North America.  Previous to that he has held GM and Sales Manager’s positions in the areas of Transportation and Marketing.

As a player, Smith played for the Fanshawe College Falcons from ’74 to ‘76 and graduated from Fanshawe’s 3-year Business – Marketing program.

Bill works with other London charities and was the Head Official for the Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tournaments for 10 years in London, Vancouver, Burlington and Windsor.

Bill is married and has 4 daughters.
